Case Studies

The following case studies are examples of healthcare education interventions that teach learners how to address racialised inequities from across the globe in a range of healthcare professions.

The case studies are sourced from both published literature and unpublished work from UK healthcare education providers. The published studies have been summarised by the project team to provide an illustration of the published work and are an interpretation of the original text.

The unpublished works are written directly by the authors by using a template.

Transformative Dissonance

Cultivating antiracism in nursing education

For further information please see the original publications which have been linked. Where contact with the authors/researchers has been possible, we have added further quotes, audio or video that provide a reflection on intervention and its sustainability.

We have also included ‘case studies’ from known examples in the United Kingdom. These are taken directly from text submitted by the authors/educators.

It is important to note that the resource focuses on education interventions that have been implemented and does not include proposals or priniciples for development. The case studies are also focused on curricula that aims to improve outcomes for service users.

There is much literature that focuses on interventions to address learner educational outcomes (e.g. reducing awarding gaps), we have deliberately avoided these as extensive examples are provided elsewhere.
